Setting styleSheet using AS3

I want to change the <s:linkNormalFormat> when a user clicks on the the loins, in a itemreadser

I found an example http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf69084-7d52.html

that looks the same as my cel, but i seem not to be able to set sentenceArea.styleSheet = ss;
